The Lechleitner Family & History

A step further with every generation.

From farm to DreiSonnen: three generations of the Lechleitner family have shaped the house in Serfaus. Today it is run by Marlene Lechleitner.

When senior host Franz Lechleitner talks about the old days, it is about work in the business, about encounters and about the next building project. From a butchery and restaurant he and Irene developed the hotel step by step. Today their daughter Marlene runs DreiSonnen and, together with Martin, welcomes families who come here to spend time with each other.

    Where the story begins.

The story of the Lechleitner family begins in Serfaus, with farming and craft. Franz’s grandfather was a tailor and farmer. His father Alfred learnt the butcher's trade after the war and became a master butcher.

    1958

This was the year Alfred and Theresa opened their butcher's shop.

    1964

Tables for guests were added to the butchery: in the new self-service restaurant, people could stay to eat. Shopping became a chance to sit down at a laid table.

Second generation · Irene & Franz

    The restaurant becomes a hotel.

The second generation begins with Franz and Irene. From their shared path in hospitality, today's hotel grows step by step.

    1976

After studying economics in Innsbruck, Franz returned to the family business. He too became a master butcher. Irene worked as a cook in the house next door. The two met and from then on went their way together. Later they turned the self-service restaurant they had taken over into a steakhouse.

    1990

When the restaurant was due to be renovated, the plans grew beyond the existing rooms. Irene and Franz built the hotel. A year later they welcomed their first overnight guests.

Second generation · Irene & Franz

    From swimming pool to Wellnesswelt.

A year after the opening, hotel guests could go swimming as well. Later, rooms were added in the converted attic. The butchery closed; the restaurant remained a place to meet for a meal, for guests not staying overnight too.

    2011

Irene and Franz created more room to rest. The sauna area was newly built, and quiet rooms were added. Enjoying the warmth after a swim and then staying lying down: the growing house now had room for that.

  4. A couple at the hotel bar of Hotel DreiSonnen: she sits in front and laughs, he stands behind her in glasses and a jacket, the lobby in the background.

Third generation · Marlene & Martin

The daughter carries the house forward.

With Marlene, the daughter of Irene and Franz, children gained more room in the house. Part of the former wellness area became a play world with softplay equipment. There children can now play and romp.

    2024

Marlene took over as managing director of DreiSonnen. Since then she has welcomed the guests together with her husband Martin. What her parents and grandparents built, she carries forward with ideas of her own, with particular attention to holidays for the whole family.

Marlene & Martin · Family holidays today

Holidays together.

Children want to play and romp about, and parents also want some time to themselves now and then. Marlene cares just as much that everyone experiences something together. That is why she keeps developing the activity programme for the whole family.

Children's food and the mascot Sonni are now part of everyday life at the hotel. In the garden, new play areas invite the children to carry on playing outdoors. So children find their place in the house, while holidays together leave time for one another.
