Serfaus is one of the few villages in Tyrol where cars are banned. Visitors and locals must park on the edge of the village and take the small underground train opened in 1985 into the centre. Take a break from noise and air pollution
In 1985 the "Dorfbahn Serfaus" opened, the first underground railway service in Tyrol. The idea was to remove cars and other motorised vehicles from the village and thereby improve the quality of life for both locals and visitors. Today, visitors staying in the centre of Serfaus are welcome to drive into the village to unload on the day of arrival but are otherwise kindly requested to park their cars in the large parking area on the edge of the village. This traffic-free concept is one of the key elements to ensuring guests enjoy a truly relaxing stay.
Thanks to the small but perfectly formed underground railway it is still possible to travel around the village quickly and comfortably. Many of the most important places are also easy to reach on foot. Look forward to an environmentally sustainable holiday in Serfaus!
